How many kilobytes can your heart hold?

1. I spent the whole night with my friends from work at Makati — again. This is becoming a habit. Hey, I needed friends last night, and they didn’t disappoint me. Thank you for all the laughs.

2. There’s a 24-hour grocery store near the place where I live. It’s really convenient for me because I work at night and I don’t want to wait until morning for most groceries to open. Anyway, today, I decided to do my [mid]weekly grocery shopping before going home. I have no idea how it happened but a cat managed to get inside without any staff noticing it. The cat looked exactly like my favorite cat who died in 2007. The cat followed me around and he kept on rubbing his body on my legs. I think the cat also knew that I needed someone to console me today, and I was very grateful for the unexpected comfort that he gave me.

3. 48 hours left and I’ll be on my way to the beach. Hang in there, Hannah!

I had to eat lunch alone today because my friends went to the library/had meetings with people from other classes/had other things to do. I don’t really mind eating lunch alone. Since I would be eating alone, I’m glad that I didn’t have to look for a place that would be alright with everyone. I decided to eat lunch while sitting in a bench that’s under the shade of a tree. Not a lot of students go there, and I was glad to have time to relax alone.

While eating, I felt something brush my right leg and realized that a cat had joined me for lunch. It was licking some weird thing that I do not recognize, but I guess the cat picked it up somewhere and decided that it’s good enough for lunch. I took a bit out of my hotdog sandwich and dropped it in front of the cat. The cat looked up in my direction and stared at me. At that moment, I wished that I could understand cats. Was the stray cat being grateful for the bit of hotdog, or did the cat think of me as a rude human being who had just insulted his choice for lunch?

The cat stared at me for a few seconds. I stared back. I couldn’t help but admire the cat’s blue and green eyes. After some time, the cat ignored the food he brought for lunch, and licked the piece of hotdog that I dropped on the grass. I continued eating my hotdog sandwich. By the time that I was ready to leave, the cat was gone, too.

I made a new friend at my college… and this one isn’t a human being. Excellent.
